Another option is to alternate the ceramic pieces, leaving openings to allow rapid cooling in applications where screw rotation itself raises polymer temperature.
This ceramic band construction is used for quick replacement inside oven covers on large pipe and plastic profile extruders. It can be supplied with complete ceramic blankets or perforated blankets for faster cooling.
